Authors After Dark Author Spotlight Interview - Nicole Peeler

Please welcome Nicole Peeler as part of The Qwillery's Authors After Dark Author Spotlight Interviews.



TQ:  What inspired you to become a writer?

Nicole:  I've always loved writing, but for academic stuff. Then I read Charlaine Harris's fifth book on a flight back to the UK, and I was like, "I want to write something like this." So I went home and started writing! I think all my years of reading and writing came together for me, then. It was a very weird experience!

TQ: What is the most challenging thing for you about writing?

Nicole:  Just finding the time with a busy life. But I can't complain, I love it!

TQ:  What writing achievement are you most proud of?

Nicole:  Just doing it, to be honest. I never thought I'd publish a book so the whole thing feels pretty magical.

TQ:  What one thing should everyone know about your writing?

Nicole:  That it's pretty off the wall. Jane swears and she likes sex and she's got a goofball take on things. She is half selkie, after all. ;-)

TQ: Please tell us about your latest and upcoming works.

Nicole:  My latest releases are a short story called "Something Wikkid This Way Comes," which is about the ladies of Triptych who you meet in book three. And Tempest's Fury, book five, comes out in July. Right now I'm writing book six, Jane's final book. It's been a great run and I can't wait to see her all grown up. :-)

Nicole D. Peeler received an undergraduate degree in English Literature from Boston University, and a PhD in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland. She’s lived abroad in both Spain and the UK, and lived all over the USA. Currently, she resides outside Pittsburgh, to teach in Seton Hill’s MFA in Popular Fiction.     I'm a little tired of Lora Leigh's breed series and Sherrilyn Kenyon's DarkHunters, to be honest. I'm wondering if I gave the Chronicles of Nick a chance that would change, but I think I'm pretty much through with LL's breeds. On the other hand, I'd love to see more of the In Death series. How could anyone have too much Roarke?

    Thanks for a fantastic interview! I love Nicole's Tempest series and her series has a special spot in my reader heart as she was the very first purchase I made for my Kindle when I first got one :)

    I agree w/ Rebe... the In Death series could go on forever as far as I'm concerned. They are still addicting and fresh even after 30+ books. On the flip side, Janet Evanovich can retire The Stephanie Plum series. The last few books have been repetitive and blah. Which kills me as I loved them at the beginning.

    LOL... I think Nicole's series needs to go on forever!!! I think the Kenyon's series may have run its course not. The characters are just not as strong as they once were.

    I'm a bit tired of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series. But I continue to read it (off and on) because I feel I have some much invested with it.

    I'm sorry the Adrien English and Cambridge Fellows series have ended.

    thanks for the contest and the giveaway! It's sad to think a series should end, I think I would say the Anita Blake series. I really enjoy this one, but it's difficult with the last books. Maybe it would change I don't know, I hope so.

    I would like the Fever series by KMM to continue. I didn't get enough of Mac's and Barrons's world. There is a spinoff series featuring secondary characters but I want to see Mac and Barrons front and center.

    I am looking forward to meeting everyone this summer. Thanks for the interview!

    I think both Christine Feehan's Dark Series as well as Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series should both come to a conclusion. I just want to be put out of my misery and find out how it ends already I have followed them both for several years now and am kind of over them. Because I am a glutton for punishment as I still continue to buy them to find out what happened, despite being disappointed the past couple of books~(I wish I could quit you amazon!) I really need to spend the money on other books that I would enjoy more like (fingers crossed)another book in the Harry Potter series, I can't wait to see what Rowlings new book is going to be about; or the next Kiera West Great Wolves of Passion; or Dana Marie Bell's follow up to Shadow Wolf; or Karen Marie Moning's next Highlander book!

    I would love for the Sookie Stackhouse series to go on forever. I know it hasn't ended, yet all good things must come to an end. I have to agree with everyone else in saying it's time to put Anita Blake to rest.

    I would have to agree that the Anita Blake series should have ended a long time ago. However I do wish Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series wasn't ended with 13 later this year... it just feels like there is a lot more to tell that she has hinted at.

    I would have liked Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld to have gone on, and I even would have preferred if she wrote more Nadia Stafford books, I love that series of hers! Another series I would want more books is Sonya Bateman's Gavyn Donatti series!!
