Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
Quirk Books, June 4, 2013
Trade Paperback and eBook, 368 pages
Published in Hardcover, June 7, 2011

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow-impossible though it seems-they may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

  2. Lovely! This is still on my tbr, so with the next book coming soonish and new photographs, this seems like THE moment to pick this up.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

Edit: Highly unoriginal, but I feel like the best YA that I've read so far, that is also enjoyable for adults, is Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. There's lots of other good YA, but I don't feel like they're that approachable for adults because of their typical Ya content.

  3. I love Robin McKinley's YA novels - The Hero and the Crown, Beauty, The Blue Sword, and Rose Daughter are fabulous!

  4. I LOVE the Harry Potter Series! I hope that counts. ;o) I've also read several YA romance books by Erin McCarthy and love them.

  7. The only one I can think of is Harry Potter and I think the Twilight series may have been young adult. Oh I know the Hunger Games. Of all those are good series.

  8. Well, I'll also say The Hunger Games. But I also recently read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and it's considered YA, just not genre fiction, and I think it's plenty good for adults too!

P.S. A list of adult-friendly YA would make a great post!

  9. My comment seems to have disappeared! Anyway, I mentioned The Hunger Games, but also The Perks of being a Wallflower, despite it not being genre fiction.
